Have you registered your .com site? Kishore C.S. (July 2000) Think of a word – Hindi or English. Add www. As prefix and
.com as suffix. Go to your internet browser and search for the site. You are
sure to visit a site on the World wide Web. May be check out your name and somebody might have registered
the name. Last month I casually entered my name www.kishore.com
and was surprised to see a site selling apparels. Then I checked my wife and
daughter’s name. www.manasvi.com was
already registered but www.anuradha.com
was still available. Another way to check what sites contain your name is to use www.netcraft.com.
By giving any word you can find matching sites. It is amazing the way site names
are taken. But be careful while doing this at office you may land up in
one of those ‘prohibited’ sites that can be very embarrassing to you. Examples of site names I noted are by thinking a word, phrase
or a string are: www.Whattheheck.com
Any phrase you can think of is seems to be registered. Netcraft.com would also be useful to search for all related
websites using the keyword you are looking for. Registering a web site name has become so easy and cheap that
all the words in English Dictionary are taken. Getting the name what is becoming
difficult. Earlier it was challenge of finding a unique for one’s
establishment in the city or country. Now it is worldwide. One has to give a
name that is not registered in the World Wild Web. Check it out…. |
