What do we want most in our life?
Kishore (August 2003)
Unconditional Love. Just two words. That is what all our life is
all about. We are all in need of unconditional love and we also want to share
this unconditional love that is in us.
This search for unconditional love leads us to do many things.
Love is God. Our search for God is also the search for this Unconditional
love. We are in search of someone who can give us unconditional love and we
know God can give us that without expecting anything in return.
Unconditional Love is love that sets no conditions. Love that is complete.
We come from a world where there is abundance of this love. (Abode of God)
We come into this world and receive this unconditional love as a child
(mother's love)
Gradually things change and love turns from unconditional to conditional. We
realize that we get love based on conditions. We adjust ourselves to behave so
that we can still get the love we want. But deep in our heart we are still
seeking this unconditional love. We search around us. We look for individual
who will give us this love.
It is not only that we are seeking love from others, we are also capable of
giving this unconditional love. We are seeking persons who will accept our
unconditional love also. When we find a bond that is unconditional our life
finds a meaning.
Where is God?
God is in places where you experience this unconditional love.
In smile of a child, you experience this love. In love of a mother to a child (most probably till they become naughty) you will experience this.
We experience love in many other situations from many other people that come
into our lives. In most cases it is not 100% unconditional love. But even a
90% unconditional love makes us happy. We enjoy our relationships with people
around us be it spouse, brother, sister, mother, father, child, friends,
colleagues or neighbour.
We give this LOVE we are seeking many names: happiness, contentment and many
other names.
Love is expressed in many ways and in every moment of our life.
If we are not getting the love we seek, first we should look within ourselves.
What is that in our own self that is making us not get this love? Are we first
giving this unconditional love to others?
Summary This thought process enabled me to gain insight into my own motivations. If you like someone it is due to the fact that you enjoy moments of unconditional love with that person. If you feel attracted to someone you see, it is due to the fact that their personality gives an impression that they are either ready to receive unconditional love or give unconditional love. But it only appears that way. No one can give us unconditional love on this earth and at the same time we are also not capable of offering unconditional love. The moment we experience this unconditional love, we will experience bliss. If we are able to retain this state of giving unconditional love to everyone around us we will become one with God.
