Time Tip: Stop waiting for the 'Perfect' situation
“…
if we wait for the moment when everything, absolutely everything is ready,
we shall never begin.”
All of us come up with great excuses when we postpone things. If we took inventory of our
excuses, we will find a consistent pattern. We are waiting for perfect
timing. We try to externalize the cause and get away. But it is our own
discipline that matters. We only have to blame ourselves for our problems.
Sometimes we also keep reminding ourselves that we will be
better if we had so and so. We put the blame on absence of a perfect situation.
We are all looking for an ideal and perfect situation under which we will start a
new task. And we know that it will not happen.
If we really want, we can make things happen.
I have done that and am sure some of you have also gone
through this kind of phase.
How to avoid this pitfall?
- Recognize
that we will never have a perfect situation
- Write
down what is the perfect situation we are waiting for where we are with
respect to this situation.
- Question
yourself, what is stopping you? Is it really the situation you are waiting
for or is something else?
Like I said in my previous steps, time management discipline
leads to self discovery. Use this opportunity to do some serious thinking.
Sometimes it is because we are not willing to get out of comfort zone and
challenge ourselves.
Challenge yourself and make things happen. Get going. Have
time of your life.
