Simplify: Get rid of Excess Baggage
One of the keys in time management is to have less stress.
Various things contribute to the stress we feel. Sometimes we will be surprised
at the things that cause stress to us. Having excess baggage is one of them.
When we have more than what we need to carry, we have excess.
When I mean excess baggage, there are lot of things that can
be considered excess baggage.

thoughts running around in our minds
- Having
too much paper on our desk
- Having
too many unnecessary e-mails in our inbox
Getting rid of excess baggage makes a difference to us.
Let me give one example
We all develop habits of collecting stuff when we are young. I
used to collect newspaper cuttings related to science from daily newspaper. I
continued this habit after growing up. I used to collect management related
articles, case studies from news papers, business magazines. I also used to
treasure collectors' issues of magazines. Over a period of time my house was
filled with all the stuff. I always wanted to dig through the pile and get
best out of it. But years rolled on and I never got around to reading them.
One day I felt it is not worth while carrying all the excess
baggage. One day when I was selling old newspapers, in a moment, I made a quick
decision. I decided I don't the pile any more. I just brought the pile and let
it go. I went through some emotions that I am giving away something precious.
But end of it I felt glad. I felt I don't have to worry about not having gone
through a pile of stuff. If I didn't need it for years, it is not worth
retaining them anyway.
Get rid of excess baggage and be relieved of lot of stress.
I know of at least of couple of friends who did something
similar and got rid of stress.
This similar principle can be applied to any thing which you
feel you have been holding to dearly even though it is not needed any more.
Go ahead and get rid the excess baggage.
