First things First: Prioritize the right way

Everyone is swamped with tons of things to do. At work or in personal life, we have lot of things to catch up. How do you handle so many tasks?

By getting your priorities right, you can do important things first and save others for later.

Planning: Planning tasks should always take high priority. Without adequate planning you will end up doing things in adhoc manner. example: Strategy for a new project and detailed plan is the first thing that needs to be done before starting the project.

Dependent Tasks: Do things that others depend on you. You have to complete tasks on which others depend on. While working in teams, you always have tasks which others are looking from you. If someone else is waiting so that you can complete a task, you better work on it first. They may customers, colleagues and any one else.

Time bound Tasks: Tasks which are time sensitive should be completed on priority. example: Paying a credit card bill before due date.

Risk Driven Tasks: Some tasks when not completed on priority have risks associated with them. Examples: Renewing your passport before it expires.

We do this kind of prioritization intuitively, but having this understanding will help us better in our prioritization task.
