Using Palm Zire

Couple of weeks back I bought a Palm PDA. I have been thinking about buying that for quite sometime and finally I got a good deal and managed to buy it. It's original  price is $99 and after mail-in rebate it was cheaper.

This has basic features one would need for a day to day task management.

Features include

1. Calendar: Appointments with reminders. It is possible to create a recurring event reminder also.
2. To Do List: Manage Task list. Add task with set priority and due date. It is also possible to filter tasks to view by date.
3. Address Book: Address book to keep addresses and phone numbers handy

In addition it has a few other options

Memo Pad: To write down small items
Calculator: Small calculator
Expense: To keep track of expenses.
Notepad: Notepad to write

It comes with options to synchronize with Outlook. I was able to synchronize addresses with Yahoo also in just a few minutes with the accessory provided.

Once this tool is in my hands, I have started using the same. I still need to use my paper planner to keep track of my monthly goals and other things that cannot be fit into the palm zire. I am in transition phase on how to make both the tools that I have on my hand.

Since I can carry the PDA with me, it gives me an option to note down tasks whenever I feel like. But I am not using carrying this accessory with me always. I am getting used to it.

Major advantages:

It is not necessary to transfer tasks manually each day which I was doing in my paper based planner.
Easier to carry and ready to use anytime.
Search feature can search across various features and give a match

If you find yourself uncomfortable with a paper planner and you like carrying accessories around, PDA is worth the investment.
