Review Progress
Having a to do list for every day and having it handy is important part of time management. But that is not all there is to time management. It is only beginning of journey to more successful and balanced life.
We need to review our progress periodically to assess how we
are doing.
Compared to last year, have I made progress.
- Am I more organized?
- Am I less stressed out?
- Am I happy?
- Am I able to manage priority tasks well?
- Do I have right balance in my life - Work, Family,
Entertainment, Happiness?
It is important to review one's own life at regular intervals.
Create time for yourself to do this. I remember reading a book called
"One Minute for Myself" which states that by taking an extra minute
to take care of ourselves, we gain a lot. Nothing in the world is so important
that it can't wait. So don't worry if you take time to reflect on your
progress, you are loosing on something else.
Our goal in trying to learn from time management tips is to be able to make significant improvement and not just little improvement.
Read the tips, take positive action. Make it habit.
Move along.
Measure your success. How are you doing? I have prepared a list
of things you can check for your progress.
Put a check mark against the items below:
___ : I have Started Making to-do lists
___: Started Setting Goals
___: I have listed recurring tasks separately
___: I am able to achieve some goals
___: I am more relaxed and less stressful now
___: I have taken control of e-mail
___: I have started 'organizing' paper and things around me
___: I complete tasks ahead of time instead of late or 'just in
time'
___: I have started using a planner or have written goals and
tasks
___: I have attended training related to time management
___: I have become more effective at work
___: I feel I am able to spend more time on things I want to do
instead of I 'have' to do
___: I feel positive energy as I become more organized and
systematic
___: I give up sometimes on task planning but get back on track
after some time
Did you look for a minimum and maximum scores? I am not giving
anything like that. You are judge of your own progress. This is only a
guideline. You might have made progress in a thing that is not listed above
due to the time management discipline.
Make it a habit to review your progress once in a while.
