Don't wait till last moment

A few months back I called one of my friends on his cell phone. He told me that he is stuck on the road because his car ran out of gas (petrol) and is waiting for help. He is one of the people I know is always under constant time pressure. Imagine how many precious hours he has lost just by ignoring a simple task of filling gas. Not only it is loss of time, but also lot of stress.

I did that mistake couple of times. I did ignore the low fuel warning signs and after that I was under constant stress, lest the car will breakdown before I get a chance to fill up. I decided to never let that happen again. So at the earliest moment I try to fill it up back and don't wait till last minute.

By doing a task on time or ahead of time, you gain an advantage. Why postpone a task which you need to any way?

Imagine this situation:

Your boss asked you to do a report. Because of some other preoccupation you didn't get to do it. Next time you were asked, you told that you will start working on it. Then boss said, forget it. I don't need it now.

If you feel in such situation that by not doing a report which the boss didn't want anyway, you didn't waste time? May not be so always.  Don't let such examples make you always put off things till last minute. Don't get into a mood of "let me wait for some more time. If it is still needed after sometime, I will do it". This is a tricky attitude which may not always work to our advantages and also end up with crisis situations. Like the examples of filling up a gas, a crisis situation takes longer time to resolve than when it is done upfront.

I sometimes even do tasks much before they are even due. This makes the situation much better and helps me to handle more tasks.

"Why put off a task which you need to do it anyway?"

Some questions you might consider while putting off a task:

Q. What will happen if I don't do it now?
Q. What will happen if I don't do it all?
Q. What will happen if I do it now?

DO IT NOW
