Importance of Task Breakdown

One of the best ways to complete bigger tasks is to effectively break them into smaller tasks and complete the smaller tasks as and when the right opportunity comes. This gradual progress leads to accomplishment of a goal.

There is no easy way to do a task breakdown. We learn most of these things by experience. But sometime back I found a good website which offers goal plans which are pre-defined. One can adopt the goal plan and tailor them to meet their needs. I felt this site brought together experience of many people and it might be possible to adopt those plans as a checklist for our own goals. I am sharing a sample from that website (in case you don't get a chance to visit the site).

Another approach used on the site was to list a set of obstacles and milestones. I am pasting the entire content to make it easy for you to understand.

Next time you find you are unable to achieve a task for a long time, try this approach of listing obstacles and breaking task into sub tasks. Search on this site for a template, you might find one you can pick up and get started.
