Holiday Planning I have observed in my experience, planning a holiday needs a slightly modified approach. I am not talking of booking tickets and other things, but what we plan to do during a holiday. Holidays are very special for every one of us. We look forward to holidays very eagerly some times may be months. Imagine you are planning to take a 2-3 weeks vacation which involves going to home town and/or country. We want to do so many things when we go there: Meet old friends, visit some special places, spend time with family and do things which you have been putting off for quite some time. But when the time comes, we become so involved making every moment count that we loose track of time and at end of vacation we may find that we really couldn't do what we wanted to do it. Vacation is not the time to make daily to-do lists. But at the same time, we should have something handy which helps us do things we really really really wanted to do. Otherwise at end of vacation you will feel that your vacation has been a waste just because you couldn't do some things. So here is what I would suggest: We don't need a to-do list, but need something on paper which reminds us. You don't need to carry your planner on vacation but put a small piece of paper with you which you can refer to once in a day. This paper can contain list of things you must do which will make you feel that you made best out of your vacation. Tip 1: Have a small to-do list written for the entire vacation that contains only MUST do items. Objective of vacation is to make you feel 100% relaxed. You can do things at your pace. But you will not have control on your time. There will be lot of unplanned things you will be doing that you loose track of time fast. Tip 2: Be flexible and enjoy things as they come Tip 3: Complete MUST do items at the earliest opportunity so that you can enjoy vacation without worries. And don't forget to make alternative arrangements at work and home when you are on vacation which will ensure that you don't have to cut short your vacation. I don't think I need to tell that but just a reminder. What is your experience with vacation planning? Did you do anything which helped you enjoy your vacation? |
