Small improvements matter We all have only 24 hours in a day. By time management is there a way by which you get big chunks of time? No. We don't really get more time by following time management tips. What we are trying to do is do things in a focused and smarter way. To be able to do things the smart way, we have to constantly look for the problems we are facing and how to overcome them. Unless we are aware of the problem we may not get the solution. Till last week I was accessing my work e-mail from home using a software which allows me to access my office desktop remotely and check e-mails. The problem with that was it is painfully slow and it takes more than 5 minutes to send one e-mail. Suddenly last week I was thinking how I can overcome this problem. I didn't want to access e-mail with web access, because I have set some rules for my Inbox which makes it inefficient to view over Web. Then I realized that I can configure Outlook on my home machine also. Though I had Outlook on my machine I never bothered to open. Once I configured it, voila! I was able to send e-mails much faster. I felt stupid for not doing this small improvement much earlier. I was proud of myself that day for making a productive improvement. In this manner you might be able to save lot of time by just doing small improvements and using right tools. By saving your precious time through small improvements you might be able to do more things in less time. And most important, share the 'improvement' with others who might be doing something similar because of their 'ignorance'. Another thing I would always do is it ask experts. When you have a problem approach experts who might have a solution in mind. Bonus Tip: During internet browsing we sometimes revisit the sites we visited yesterday and a few days back. Even locating the bookmark takes time. Use history feature and locate the link faster. To view history of links you have visited, Click CTRL + H in Internet Explorer. You will see the links you have visited in last few weeks and you can locate the link faster. |
