Double up on your tasks

This week's Tip:

Plan to do things that go together and save time

Action items:

This is a simple strategy to save time. Group your tasks so that you save some time.

  • If you had to do some shopping and also go to bank, choose a time and do both in one trip. You will avoid an extra trip and save some time.
  • If you are going out to throw garbage, pick up your mail on your return.
  • You are coming back home from work and get your car/vehicle filled with gas so that you don't have to make an extra trip.
  • Going to check with your boss on some task, ask him something else you have been wanting to do for a long time or drop by a colleague who sits next to your boss and catch up on some tips.

By such simple way of combining tasks that have something in common we can be more productive. You might already be doing some things like this. What helps in doing this kind of grouping? When multiple tasks have something in common you can do this.

Once you have listed your tasks in your planner do a quick check whether you can group any of those tasks and do them in a stretch. Doing something else 'while you are it' is easier. Two birds with a stone is a quick time saver.

Once you start following this strategy you will find that you are able to save good amount of time and make you feel more productive.

Summary

Group your tasks and achieve more in less time.
