Time Management

by Kishore C.S.

Time Management is very important for any individual. Control on one’s time keeps the control on Life. For success at work or personal life ‘time management’ is the key. According to Peter Drucker (1) ‘Knowing How one’s time is spent’ is the first step towards becoming an effective individual.

I have seen individuals work at improving their time management skills. Some prefer ‘to-do’ lists which they carry along, some use diary to record appointments, some use their computer programs to manage their schedule meetings and tasks, some use post-it to keep reminders. I have also used the above methods during past few years. I have also used combinations of these for quite sometime. I found myself switching from one method to another. I needed one simple and easy to use method without any disadvantages. It was during this time that I happened to attend a time management Workshop. Though it didn’t teach me anything new on the problems I am facing, the Kit given in seminar made my time management into a well-structured method. I used this opportunity to streamline my time management methods.

Advantages of structured time management method are:

It is not that attending a workshop will alone completely change you. It all depends on individual’s self-discipline. You can only take horse to the pond, but cannot make it drink. The workshop can help you in showing the direction and give detailed procedures what to do next. It is up to individual to go further.

I recommend everyone should work towards a practical time management system. Attending Workshops or seminars on time management can give useful tips on time management. Read books on Time Management. Take concrete steps towards effective time management. Take control of your life. DO IT NOW.

Once you have read this, sit and think about what kind of time management method you use. If you feel there is a need to improve, resolve to understand the problems you face. Check whether you can alter your method. If opportunity arises attend a workshop. Do not worry about the money you have to spend for the workshop. I would say it would be worth the investment.

In case you want to know details of the workshop I have attended contact me. I will give contact details.
