Technology changes Kishore C.S. Thursday, June 10, 1999 Making dreams come alive. That is what technology is doing. Innovation in Technology is going to change lives rapidly. The urge to solve existing problems and make continuous improvements is changing the world so fast. Continuous improvement things around us brings a positive outlook in our minds. Keep on the look out for such things. Following were couple ideas I had and I thought were very innovative ideas. To my surprise, some of the solutions are already implemented. Read on for the examples. A few days back I read a column that in this information age one has to remember so many passwords. One for credit card, one for e-mail account etc. It is at that time it struck me why dont we have ATM machines, which recognize thumb impression instead of asking for PIN number. And to my surprise last week I read an article in Science Section of my newspaper that someone has already come up with the product. ATM Machine that will store your thumb impression and validate the same. Amazing? I had another similar experience couple of months back. I have to remember what programs I have to watch on which channel. Sometimes used to miss my favorite programs. I thought why dont TVs become intelligent enough so that I can program the programs I want to watch. After few days I read in science columns that a Dish attached to TV that can draw signals from satellite that also can be programmed. Some one thought about this requirement and implemented it. And yesterday I found BPL advertising a new TV Model with these features available. Telephone departments in India have started offering services of Caller Line Identification, toll free calling facilities, Calling Card. These facilities will certainly help everyone in communicating faster and better. This is recent change which can be put to lot of uses. Everyday many innovative products come into the market and all these are going to influence our lives. Look out for such innovations and someday you may need the product. |
