Movie Review: Maya Bazar (Telugu movie)
Kishore C.S. (May 2003)
Rating: 5 Star (5 being best)
Maya Bazaar is a super hit old movie that
entertains one and all. I have watched this movie many times and will watch
as many times as possible in future too.
A movie that has a very nice story woven around
characters in epic Mahabharata. This movie has all the ingredients of a
superhit movie.
- S.V. Ranga Rao excels in his role of
Ghatokhacha.
- Movie songs are very meaningful and
entertaining. Vivahabhojanambu is all time hit and every marriage function
will have this song played.
- Most of the songs became movie titles in
recent years
Story:
We don't know whether this was part of
Mahabharata or not. But this fits well into the main story.
Balarama's daughter Sasirekha and Arjuna's son
Abhimanyu are considered to be made for each other from childhood. When it
is time for marriage, Pandavas loose their kingdom. When Balarama goes to
question Kauravas they please him and trick him to agree for marriage of his
daughter with Duryodhana's son. This upsets Abhimanyu and Subhadra. They
leave Dwaraka and reach Ghatoktacha's place. Ghatoktacha goes to Dwaraka and
as per Sri Krishna guidance, takes the bride's place. For the marriage, a
new city is built from Magic which is named as Maya Bazaar. Finally the
marriage is foiled and Balarama realizes the trick played on him.
Actors: N.T. Rama Rao, ANR, Savitri, S.V.Ranga
Rao, Gummadi, Relangi and others
A must have movie for every telugu household.
