experiences before reading the following experiences for better
appreciation
During Dec 2000 I was moving to US with family for job. Since
I was going with family we had more luggage. Our luggage consisted of 3 big
suitcases, 3 cardboard boxes and 2 bags. I had a mental worry how I will be
able to transport these items from Airport to Apartment once I reach US. My
luggage would not fit in a taxi. And being with family, I don’t know what
options I have also. I prayed to Lord Hanuman and Guruji to take care of the
same. I trusted them.
We reached SFO airport and took our luggage out in 2
trolleys that were overflowing. Being lean I even had difficulty in loading
them onto trolleys. I was looking around for help and with only hope in my
heart, I went towards the taxi stand. Typically you need to take the taxi that
is ready to go in the line. When we reach the taxi stand, we found a cab that
is like a minivan. The driver immediately asked where we need to go and loaded
the luggage into the back of van by removing the last seat. Our luggage fitted
exactly in the van and the driver took us safely to our apartment. This is
example of Lord taking care of ‘minor problem’ faced by a devotee that becomes
a blessing for the devotee.
Having stayed in Chennai for 6 years and traveling at least
twice a year by train, every time I go to railway station with more luggages, I
feel cheated by Porters there. They seem to take advantage of our helplessness
and demand more money. I always tried to reduce the luggage to avoid this
situation. This experience was after I started believing in God. We were
traveling again and deliberately I took fewer luggages as we were going on a
short trip. This time I decided I will not take services of a porter and I will
manage by myself, even if it means carrying the luggage for a long distance.
Mentally I thought if any porter is willing to carry this luggage for Rs.20/-
then only I will use his services. It is generally very rare that porters come
for such a low charge. Especially when they know that you are traveling in II
AC and the compartment is farther from entrance, you are forced to pay higher
sums. I thought such a thing would not
happen.
When the auto reached station, it stopped in a place that is
slightly far from the place where porters’ crowd was sitting. We got out of
auto. At that time a porter came and said he will take the luggage to the
compartment. He did not ask what coach and what train also, which is unusual. I
said I don’t need a porter. Then I was astonished when he said “Just give Rs.
20/-“. He asked the price I had in my mind and that too even without enquiring
about the train and coach. I was dumb founded and I looked at my wife in
complete surprise. She also expressed surprise and the Porter took us safely to
compartment and didn’t demand even one rupee extra which is a normal practice
when they realize that they had to walk farther than they had in mind.
I felt it is divine inspiration that brought the porter.
Guruji used say once you start receiving Lord’s blessings he will shower them
and he will take care of all needs of devotee.
Again, this incident may look very simple, silly and stupid.
But persons who have stayed in Chennai and faced the trouble with porters and
auto drivers will certainly acknowledge that such a situation is rare. Hence I
treat this as a divine intervention and blessing than a ‘rare coincidence’.
