E-Shopper
To become an e-shopper first the concept and method of buying things has to change ...say In earlier days people used take items like clothes, grocery items ,,,to houses carrying on their heads and sold them and people opened shops which expected customers to come to the shop ..such changes has to be natural and involves lot of paradigm shift in customer buying and as well as exerts heavy pressure on forces involved in making such changes like marketing ...
I am sure people will find ways to convince the customers that e-buying is simpler, safer and reliable way of buying and enjoyable toooooooo...may be they would offer some free trips if u cross certain amount etc.....
let us wait and seeeeeeeeeeee...
I've some ideas to share reg e-shopping.
While it's true that majority of 'high-price' shopping may not work out thru e-shopping , there are quite a lot of things which when delivered at our door steps will leave us hassle free.
-Considering the crowd (because of the over population) shopping is not all that merrier most of the times. Lot of times we 'll 'feel happy if things are delivered, mainly because of the pain we've to undergo to reach out to the place. For example I would be too happy to place an order for a book online , buy standard items like rice/dhal from an e-shop where I can just specify the qty given the price, Send a chq book request or look into my bank balance sitting at home, or order for my favourite icecream/pizza from home. The list of such small requirements are never ending and in day to day life may require quite an effort on our part. I am sure e-shopping can help us in a big way in this. Of course we'll only go to a shop and choose our outfit or jewellery, but these are not all time shopping items. Can't say a day might come when the visual effects of advertising may lure me into placing an order for a jewellery , by a click.
Quite a saddening fact about the Indian mentality is given the chance they truly misuse their freedom. So there's every possibility that they'll deliver poor quality stuff because there's no customer intervention and interaction.
I am sure this will improve as e-shopping evolves and the competition rises.
I feel the scope of e-Shopping is very limited.
Touch is one of the five senses with which we realize the quality and the attributes of many of the items. Even the so called standard variety of rice in different shops vary to a large extent. Same is the case with u purchasing a book. Though its ur eyes which will send feed back to ur brain, ur hands also will do enough decision making in buying the book - u will definitely think is it handy to carry this book, can I easily access the chapters - like that. This u r loosing with ur e-shopping when u first time go to buy a book/article which u never looked at with anyone else or anywhere else. What a computer can display to us is an image but not the reality.
In olden days, many people learned things thro verbal communication. They came to know about the views outside one's own self thro discussions/chatting. One of the ways to know the world opinion is to mix with people from various sections. Shopping is one of those which will help a lot in this. It definitely brings culture/society/views together.
If e-shopping, y not e-Marriages/e-Family/e-Life/e-Society????
Any E-business , ties with traditional brick and mortar for implementing, like tying up with speed post /deltagram for delivery. check out bababazaar/nilgris (vegetables + groceries), e-shop for grocery, a reliable quality and daily used goods, so all that is required to told in the net is refill quantity and monthly account settlement. Everyday ,fresh items are delivered. shopping for fancy items is ok! but of commodities..it would be helpful
Again! i differ coz, number of varieties in a shop is constant. so adyar bakery has got few varieties, krishna sweets and grand sweets so on. Check out the availability price and order, coz tirunelveli halwa we would have tasted so many times that we need not have second thoughts, during diwali..all these place are having 1000 of tokens ,meaning quality and freshness assured. so best would be e-biz.
An example to quote, so many auction sites in US/ gifts and fancy stores, check out e-buy that different/unique items that one cannot even imagine or see by looking the display made in stores are available. The prices are competitive. any bamboo/wood carving from trivandrum ie., factory rather than from poompuhar show room with mark up prices.., they are exotic
The advantage of e-shoping is competitive price for good items, to see shops in different places. like buy original nectar from e- shop in kodai and statues from trivandrum. delivery is getting improved a lot. that syndrome is coz, we , in india unlike Us are less exposed to direct marketing..otto burlington clothes..
Well my views, are that enjoying a trip , visitng friends need not be combined with shopping, anyway u save the time. so one go for once in a while trips to evaluate shops and products..like i will still got to new restaurents, try out food, then from next time when relatives i will do e-shopping. Back to TopAs stated in the mail, even in US, people tend to shop only such items like CDs, Books, Toys ( and Medicines - gradually picking up now a days). I have not heard any one buying a groceries online (may be due to the extra cost associated with it). However, its ideal if the online store can deliver quality products (groceries and vegetables) every time to their customer.
I don't like wasting 30 minutes every week to pick up the same milk/cauliflower if some one delivers at no extra cost. Also people buy one time buying items (like music system, camera etc) - after all you will select a brand and model number in traditional store and if the price is less in an online store, why to waste money buying it in a traditional store? Lot of people buy camera's online. More over, when you buy stuff using your credit card, credit card companies (VISA or MasterCard) protect you from the frauds. So you don't have to worry about the fraud related to purchases made online. If you don't receive an article you asked for, you can ask VISA not to pay the merchant and hence merchants won't cheat you on this regard.
Cost is a main factor in online shopping. If two stores sell an item at different price (most stores differ in prices in US), its often tough to find out where you can get the item for the best price. However, its comparatively easy using search engines and more over you can get the price of the item in 4 stores in 5 minutes. However, its not possible in real world shopping where you spend 30 minutes driving to each store.
