An Achievement

This particular article happens to be my 100th article - a century that is an achievement in my life. It was more than 2 years back when I wanted to find a way of 'sharing' my ideas and views. I always wanted to WRITE, WRITE, WRITE. But I never thought I would be able write so many. I consider writing continuously for past 2 years as a hobby is an achievement. There are many people who write but it is their profession or their major skill which is helping them in their livelihood. But I am writing for the sake of conveying my ideas/views/experiences.

Inspiration

What inspires me is a basic motivation to 'share' what I know.

I found it difficult to write articles in the beginning. I needed some idea to 'share'. Every article starts with this idea. Gradually I start focusing on how I would explain it to someone so that they understand my thought process. I try to convey not only my views but what and how my views were developed. I get ideas at random times. It may be when I am sleeping or when I am working or when I am doing something else. First the idea strikes. But it takes a long time before it crystallizes into a full article.

My First Article

Quality at work’ is my first article I wrote long before I started my web site. It was a very inspired moment which I remember. I happened to be thinking about importance of quality and in 10 minutes my ideas crystallized into an article. I will never forget this article because it conveyed my thoughts perfectly and it is an article which conveyed my basic philosophy of Quality in a very strong way. This article found its way to 'in-house' magazine of the company.

Subsequently I started writing articles in the areas of Software Engineering, Quality and Self help which are my focus areas. As my experience widened I also started related to spirituality and personal experiences. I always try to stick to my Areas of Interest which I focus on with occasional miscellaneous articles. This helps me and also everyone to concentrate on the themes while reading the articles.

The Process

I have a list of ideas which popped up into my mind written down in my diary. Whenever I think of a new idea, I write it down in my diary. When it is time to write another article, I scan the list. I pick up the ideas on which I feel more strongly at that moment and on which I have a few more thoughts that can be added. Then I start with a 'draft'. I write down all the sentences that come out related to the idea. Once my mind is exhausted with sentences, I take a look at the draft and start organizing the sentences into a logical manner. I attempt to explain what the article is about in first few sentences. A few headings to stress 'importance' of each para and a summary which reiterates the idea at the end.

Then I go through another review to check spellings and use of proper words and sentences. I add a 'bold font' or 'quotes' to stress important aspects of the articles. This helps to convey idea faster to the impatient reader.

In many of the articles, the idea is conveyed through my 'personal experience'. This experience is something I am more keen on sharing and that is what makes my articles what they are. I am not interested in stating a few facts and a few references, but sharing what I felt and what I learned. This has been the note in many of the articles.

The Future

I am happy with my achievement and hope to continue do the same in future. I have a list of 'ideas to share' which stands at 40 at this time and am sure I will able to put these ideas into articles and share them with you.

Summary

Writing has been my favorite hobby. My other habits: reading, (I love reading books) and diary writing habit (which I have been doing it for more than 10 years) helped me to be aware of my thoughts and experiences. I have made of use of this talent of mine to be useful to others. A Novelist writes with an objective of earning money, a journalist write because it is his bread earning necessity, but my writing is solely motivated by a view to 'share' and that is why I regard this 'century' as a major milestone in my life. I thank everyone for the support in their feedback to my articles.
