Kishore (March 2000)
It was during 3rd year of our college (Year 1990-91). We had department elections and Rajesh was in fray for President's post. We had done lot of campaigning and one of the promises we made was that we will remove all posters once the election is over. The election had all the drama of canvassing and finally Rajesh won the election.
It was time for action. Now the whole class came together and one night we started the cleanup operation. Once the dinner was finished we started from the hostel armed with water buckets and tools (all sharp objects that can be used) to remove paper from the walls. I think it went on for more than two hours. Used ladders to scale the high walls and removed all the posters. We went about removing all the posters that have been sticking to the walls for years. Believe me, we enjoyed the cleanup operation. We saw posters dating years before we entered the department.
We all finished the task and returned to hostel after putting up a notice that we did our job as per promise.
The next day when we reached the department we couldn't believe our eyes. We never thought the department will acquire a new look based on our 'cleanup' operation. We discovered a marble stone engraved on the wall which mentions department's inauguration. We never knew that such a thing existed. We were all proud of the good work we have done. It was an occasion to remember.
I would say our class had a very high team spirit and it was displayed well in fulfilling the promise. . We got good appreciation from many professors of the department and pride we derived out of doing such a good work. Those were the days!!!
